Check out my Dubz: 007 Goldeneye

So I was inspired by alot of the bloggers here who are so knowledgeable about one particular subject.  Two that immediately come to mind are The Watch dude, and This guy and his Scotch.  When I think of cool watches, and high class liqueur, only one guy comes to mind, James F***ing Bond ya'll!  So today I will be talking about the best iteration of the Bond Franchise, Goldeneye 007, for the Nintendo 64.

B*tches don't know about my Q watch

This game is significant in many ways.  Say what you want about Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda and any one of Nintendo's rehashed flagship series, but Goldeneye put the N64 on the map, and offered a legitimate reason  to buy the system for anyone who was older than 12.  This game does everything right, a long, fun and challenging single player campaign full of immersion, outstanding control system(Many thought the N64 couldn't handle an FPS because of the controller setup)The graphics were superb for the time too, and really made 3 dimensional games viable.

But let's be cereal for a sec, nobody played this for the single player, you played it to own your friends in the phenomenal multiplayer experience.  For me personally, this game defined what multiplayer could, and is continuing to be on the console platform.  It wasn't particularly innovating anything, just streamlining and improving on a formula that had been successful on the PC for a generation.  For years, PC games enjoyed a monopoly on fun deathmatch style multiplayer games, but when 007 came along, he turned on that British charm, and seduced us all with his unique, and stylish game.  I'd hit it.

Yes, I own a yellow controller, and I like women, don't hate

  2. I never got thru the single player! All I remember when I was little was playing this game with my friends for hours! One of the best games for N64 and one of the most influential FPS games of all time!

  5. This game was the best. I remember the N64 in our group of friends always being brought over to someones house on the weekend to during our sleepovers. The fact that 4 people could play at once was awesome!

  8. ah, the good ole N64 days... Goldeneye was an awesome game. Wish more people did splitscreen multiplayer these days... its the way to go. Nothing is more fun than kicking someone's ass and then boastin about it when they are right next to you. Online play is fun too but not nearly as good IMO.

  9. Spent so many hours playing multiplayer on this game. I had all the spawn locations memorized and would plant proximity mines right there so when people spawned it was instant death.

  10. lol I recently found a working N64 in the garbage and when I found out it worked the first thing I did was buy goldeneye

  11. This was my favorite game back in the day. I had to convince my parents you could do other stuff besides shooting fools in the face to get them to buy it for me. All that multiplayer fun... it brings a tear to my eye.

  12. One of the things that I liked about goldeneye is that if you ran out of bullets, you could still kill a person with your bare hands. Many FPS's (cough . . . Halo . . . cough) don't offer this feature even today.

  18. using the c buttons and the stick at a diagonal position and using odd job, you were faster and smaller than everyone else. Grab some remote mines, lock yourself in a room and rack up kills haha.

    i miss goldeneye.

  19. That was the family game for the longest time in my household. Along with Mario Kart for the n64. I use to play horribly- would just stand there and use the paintball bullets to try to make happy faces on the walls. My dad and brothers would run by and not even bother with me, lol. Thanks for the nostalgia bro (: Ima dust off the old console tonight I think...

We didn't have that, but we did have Perfect Dark which was built in the same engine. Damn that was a good game.

  28. Heh, a lot of classic games do the "streamlining" thing. Halo wasn't anything original either, it just took old concepts and worked with it :)

I wish developers these days remember that simplicity can be more beautiful than OMG PHOTOREALISM BROWN AND BLOOM.

  29. The amount of hours that I spent shooting my friends on this game would disgust a normal human being. Absolutely disgust them.
