B*tches don't know about my Q watch |
This game is significant in many ways. Say what you want about Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda and any one of Nintendo's rehashed flagship series, but Goldeneye put the N64 on the map, and offered a legitimate reason to buy the system for anyone who was older than 12. This game does everything right, a long, fun and challenging single player campaign full of immersion, outstanding control system(Many thought the N64 couldn't handle an FPS because of the controller setup)The graphics were superb for the time too, and really made 3 dimensional games viable.
But let's be cereal for a sec, nobody played this for the single player, you played it to own your friends in the phenomenal multiplayer experience. For me personally, this game defined what multiplayer could, and is continuing to be on the console platform. It wasn't particularly innovating anything, just streamlining and improving on a formula that had been successful on the PC for a generation. For years, PC games enjoyed a monopoly on fun deathmatch style multiplayer games, but when 007 came along, he turned on that British charm, and seduced us all with his unique, and stylish game. I'd hit it.
Yes, I own a yellow controller, and I like women, don't hate |
so many hours of youth were wasted on that
ReplyDeleteI never got thru the single player! All I remember when I was little was playing this game with my friends for hours! One of the best games for N64 and one of the most influential FPS games of all time!
ReplyDeletelol nice. n64 rocks. i am also impressed by the watch man and this guy and his scotch.
ReplyDeletei am following. get back at me
Oh, this is the one with the "cannot be unseen" Brosnan on the cover! :D
ReplyDeleteThis game was the best. I remember the N64 in our group of friends always being brought over to someones house on the weekend to during our sleepovers. The fact that 4 people could play at once was awesome!
ReplyDeleteim probly like the only person that thinks that game sucked :D
ReplyDeleteHaha yes I've played that game. Miss it
ReplyDeleteFollow me people :)

ah, the good ole N64 days... Goldeneye was an awesome game. Wish more people did splitscreen multiplayer these days... its the way to go. Nothing is more fun than kicking someone's ass and then boastin about it when they are right next to you. Online play is fun too but not nearly as good IMO.
ReplyDeleteSpent so many hours playing multiplayer on this game. I had all the spawn locations memorized and would plant proximity mines right there so when people spawned it was instant death.
ReplyDeleteSincerely,

lol I recently found a working N64 in the garbage and when I found out it worked the first thing I did was buy goldeneye
ReplyDeleteThis was my favorite game back in the day. I had to convince my parents you could do other stuff besides shooting fools in the face to get them to buy it for me. All that multiplayer fun... it brings a tear to my eye.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things that I liked about goldeneye is that if you ran out of bullets, you could still kill a person with your bare hands. Many FPS's (cough . . . Halo . . . cough) don't offer this feature even today.
ReplyDeleteI prefer perfect dark. But goldeneye is good too. :)
ReplyDeletei miss the olds when video games were easier
ReplyDeleteKeep looking at the floor to make the game run faster :)
ReplyDeleteThat was the picture he posted on Craigslist looking for some of the "lady love".
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the remake?
ReplyDeleteEPIC game, Perfect Dark was superb as well.
ReplyDeleteusing the c buttons and the stick at a diagonal position and using odd job, you were faster and smaller than everyone else. Grab some remote mines, lock yourself in a room and rack up kills haha.
ReplyDeletei miss goldeneye.
thanks for the nostalgia haha :)
That was the family game for the longest time in my household. Along with Mario Kart for the n64. I use to play horribly- would just stand there and use the paintball bullets to try to make happy faces on the walls. My dad and brothers would run by and not even bother with me, lol. Thanks for the nostalgia bro (: Ima dust off the old console tonight I think...
ReplyDeletevery nice
ReplyDeletePossibly one of my favorite games of all time. I nostalgia'd hard. Following.
ReplyDeleteat least ur controller isnt pink, then id be worried ;)

Goldeneye and MarioKart 64 were the two greatest games ever.
ReplyDeleteHaha I've "hit it" a lot too. Awesome, awesome game.
ReplyDeleteThis has to be one of the best games ever made. I believe I spent almost all my N64 childhood on it. And playing with friends was the best part, everyone wanted to be Oddjob!!
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot, Check out my blog, it's really interesting too: http://ggc151.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletePaintball mode... so many lulzy marks.
ReplyDeleteLook at his giant mouth. Look at it.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have that, but we did have Perfect Dark which was built in the same engine. Damn that was a good game.
Wow that's pretty glorious
ReplyDeleteHeh, a lot of classic games do the "streamlining" thing. Halo wasn't anything original either, it just took old concepts and worked with it :)
ReplyDeleteI wish developers these days remember that simplicity can be more beautiful than OMG PHOTOREALISM BROWN AND BLOOM.
i b i b i b that golden eye!
ReplyDeleteThe amount of hours that I spent shooting my friends on this game would disgust a normal human being. Absolutely disgust them.
ReplyDeletethe nostalgia is strong with this one.
ReplyDeleteNever tried this! However seems awesome :D
ReplyDeleteGolden Eye is like the Load Runner of the Apple 2e.
ReplyDeleteGoldeneye....the epic game of the decade

ReplyDeleteGolden Eye is an epic game. EPIC
ReplyDeleteI miss playing this game so much..
