I'd like to talk about something that's been bugging me for a while, cheating. First, check out this article courtesy of http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com:
Cheaters
It talks all about how Generation Y is using technology to beat the school system, and forgo studying for tests. This got me thinking, how many of you fellow generation Y people had one of the following items as kid
 |
How about a nice cup of RAAAAGE |
It's not hard to see why our generation is acceptable with cheating. Think about How high the Divorce rate is in the country, and the recent Baseball-Steroids scandals. We grew up spoiled and stupid and we needed help just to get through a hard level on a video game. For shame on you Generation Y! What's your personal opinion on cheating/hacking in games right now, or in the past?
Cheaters are just scrubs who don't have the courage to power through something on their own.
ReplyDeleteNah. I don't see any point in cheating. If I do it, I lose any interest in the game. :/

I don't advocate cheating in any part of my life. However, guides are okay and sometimes necessary when you're stuck on a video game. If you're going to cheat through the entire game, why are you even playing it? Just my thoughts.

i hate hceats
ReplyDeleteI think you should only cheat in a video game once you have finished the game thoroughly on the hardest difficulty. What would GTA be without cheats? less fun. a lot less fun
ReplyDelete*looks at game genie*
ReplyDeleteFFFFFFFF-Feels old. :/
I only use guides when I'm stuck. T3T I'm not that very good at many games.
I hated the game genie. It would always get stuck in my NES. Not to mention that many cheats caused bugs in the games. Cheating to get past a hard level just wasn't satisfying, but some of the novel glitch type cheats were fun for a bit.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeletethanks so much for your lovely comment :)))))
wish you a great time!

I like to beat games on my own the first time through, but when replaying I see no issue with it.
ReplyDeleteI stopped cheating in games and life when I was about 15. I think for some people it is a phase, for others it is a way of life.
ReplyDeleteI do not approve of cheating.
ReplyDeleteLeo,

i don't really care about cheating unless the person is just so blatantly obvious.
ReplyDeleteI used to cheat on single player, but I realized that it just made the game super duper boring.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, if I've been carving at this puzzle for ages and nothing is happening, I'm definitely consulting a FAQ.
cheating is not cool

I would never.
ReplyDeleteNot in a million years. If wife was hot.

Gameshark for the mfw. I don't cheat against others, I just cheat once I've burnt out the game as it is. Also action replay.
ReplyDeleteI never had any of those on the image. However I believe cheating is a personal choice, even if you do it you are actually cheating on yourself. So w/e
ReplyDeleteit amazes me how much things have changes
ReplyDeletei really dont like to play with them, but i dont mind watching them play others hehe

If I cheat I lose in the end. Simple. I cheat on a test then need the knowledge in life and end up over a cliff without a paddle (or something like that). Nah, cheating is just a way for people to get good grades so their parents and scholarships keep coming in.
ReplyDeleteYou can't cheat life.
I dunno, cheating where other people don't come into play is alright, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI'll finish a game, but cheat on my next run through for the laughs. I guess it's an effort thing for me.
You miss out on a lot, cheating.
Single player games: go nuts. Online games: screw you.
ReplyDeleteSo people are engross with winning they forgot the competition part of it
ReplyDeleteI hate cheaters, they truly take the fun out of the game.

Y'all just jelly you didn't have dat Gameshark!
ReplyDeleteGameshark was the shit back in the N64 days, when you could use it to play in the secret levels on GoldenEye.
Whew! I'm Generation X. No Game Genie for me. Or was that Game Shark? BTW...made you blog of the day.
ReplyDeleteGame genie all day erry day.
ReplyDeleteNever played Megaman 2 with the sound channels distorted? Then you don't know SHIT about video games.
I had the game genie for the nes and snes. Man games will never be the same :(
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Cheaters never prosper :) Supporting this blog!

You actually make a very interesting point. I hadn't considered the connection between those two factors until now.
ReplyDeletei hate cheating
ReplyDeleteCheating was and will be part of the world
ReplyDeleteFor today's games, there's just no room for it.
ReplyDeleteMost games now are pushing for immersion, and cheat codes just take that away
I don't think people should cheat on online games, however after completing a game normally using cheats can breath new life into the game for subsequent playthroughs.
ReplyDeleteI think every generation would have cheated if they had the same tech available to them
ReplyDeleteI think it has to due with the American value of individual over group, when you have to be knowledgeable in all areas it can really wear you thin and you'll turn to the alternative: cheating.
ReplyDeleteGameGenie FTW! (srs)

personally, I have always hated cheating in vidya. I did own a gameshark for my N64 but only used it for silly things and just dicking around.
ReplyDeleteI did have a gameshark-type modchip at one point, but that was honestly solely just to exploit FFVII and dick around by having Sephiroth as one of my playable characters (until the inevitable crash, of course!). Oh, I used the thing to play import games on PSX as well.
ReplyDeletecheating in a game is not cool in my opinion, too. but hell im using a trainer for dead space right now. i just want to see the end and feel the fear, but i dont want to play the same levels because i die. the game is scary as shit man
ReplyDeleteAlways tried to avoid cheating, but some games, some very hard games, just asked for it.
ReplyDeleteI must say, I sometimes get very frustrated on games, because I can't pass a certain stage. But then, when I use a cheat, it becomes too easy, and its not interesting anymore. I get bored and I stop playing...
ReplyDeleteFollowU.
BIG HEAD MODE ALWAYS A FAVE
ReplyDeleteI blame Kirk and the Kobayashi Maru!
ReplyDeleteDude! Game genies! I miss those soooo much. I used to spend HOURS just hacking games to hack em. I swear to god you have my favorite blog on blogspot. It's like a little nostalgia everyday. :)
ReplyDeleteI never had one of those. I get bored of games if I can cheat.
ReplyDeleteAfter playing some of the old NES games, it's no wonder these things came out. Those games were damn near impossible sometimes.
