A Cheater is you!

I'd like to talk about something that's been bugging me for a while, cheating.  First, check out this article courtesy of http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com:  Cheaters

It talks all about how Generation Y is using technology to beat the school system, and forgo studying for tests.  This got me thinking, how many of you fellow generation Y people had one of the following items as kid

How about a nice cup of RAAAAGE
It's not hard to see why our generation is acceptable with cheating.  Think about How high the Divorce rate is in the country, and the recent Baseball-Steroids scandals.  We grew up spoiled and stupid and we needed help just to get through a hard level on a video game.  For shame on you Generation Y! What's your personal opinion on cheating/hacking in games right now, or in the past?

    Nah. I don't see any point in cheating. If I do it, I lose any interest in the game. :/

    I don't advocate cheating in any part of my life. However, guides are okay and sometimes necessary when you're stuck on a video game. If you're going to cheat through the entire game, why are you even playing it? Just my thoughts.

    I think you should only cheat in a video game once you have finished the game thoroughly on the hardest difficulty. What would GTA be without cheats? less fun. a lot less fun

    I hated the game genie. It would always get stuck in my NES. Not to mention that many cheats caused bugs in the games. Cheating to get past a hard level just wasn't satisfying, but some of the novel glitch type cheats were fun for a bit.

    I stopped cheating in games and life when I was about 15. I think for some people it is a phase, for others it is a way of life.

    I used to cheat on single player, but I realized that it just made the game super duper boring.

    On the other hand, if I've been carving at this puzzle for ages and nothing is happening, I'm definitely consulting a FAQ.

    Gameshark for the mfw. I don't cheat against others, I just cheat once I've burnt out the game as it is. Also action replay.

    If I cheat I lose in the end. Simple. I cheat on a test then need the knowledge in life and end up over a cliff without a paddle (or something like that). Nah, cheating is just a way for people to get good grades so their parents and scholarships keep coming in.

    You can't cheat life.

    I dunno, cheating where other people don't come into play is alright, I guess.
    I'll finish a game, but cheat on my next run through for the laughs. I guess it's an effort thing for me.

    For today's games, there's just no room for it.

    Most games now are pushing for immersion, and cheat codes just take that away

    I don't think people should cheat on online games, however after completing a game normally using cheats can breath new life into the game for subsequent playthroughs.

    I think it has to due with the American value of individual over group, when you have to be knowledgeable in all areas it can really wear you thin and you'll turn to the alternative: cheating.

    personally, I have always hated cheating in vidya. I did own a gameshark for my N64 but only used it for silly things and just dicking around.

    I did have a gameshark-type modchip at one point, but that was honestly solely just to exploit FFVII and dick around by having Sephiroth as one of my playable characters (until the inevitable crash, of course!). Oh, I used the thing to play import games on PSX as well.

    cheating in a game is not cool in my opinion, too. but hell im using a trainer for dead space right now. i just want to see the end and feel the fear, but i dont want to play the same levels because i die. the game is scary as shit man

    I must say, I sometimes get very frustrated on games, because I can't pass a certain stage. But then, when I use a cheat, it becomes too easy, and its not interesting anymore. I get bored and I stop playing...

    Dude! Game genies! I miss those soooo much. I used to spend HOURS just hacking games to hack em. I swear to god you have my favorite blog on blogspot. It's like a little nostalgia everyday. :)

    After playing some of the old NES games, it's no wonder these things came out. Those games were damn near impossible sometimes.
